An All-Inclusive Community

“Together in the classroom. Together on the field.”

Carver School has worked diligently to create a campus that enthusiastically welcomes learners of all abilities. We cultivate an inclusive atmosphere by giving all students a chance to learn, play, and develop friendships together in and out of the classroom.

One such way is through Unified Sports. We are proud to partner with Special Olympics Arizona to be recognized as a Unified Champion School.

Special Olympics Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together as a quick path to friendship and understanding.

In Unified Sports, teams are comprised of people of similar age and ability, which makes practices more fun and games more challenging and exciting for all. Having sport in common helps kids to avoid preconceptions and develop lasting friendships.

GW Carver offers seasonal Unified Sports:

Fall Sports

  • Bocce and Soccer

Spring Sports

  • Track and Field
    (50/100m dash/relay, long jump, javelin throw, shot-put)
